1974 Pontiac Grandville Convertible $15,400
In 1974, the Grandville was the King in Pontiac town overtaking the Bonneville as the highest price Pontiac for that year and since its debut in 1971. In addition, its extremely low production numbers were the lowest production Pontiac available with just 3000 made in '74, far lower than any other Pontiac. This Grandville has the optional 455ci engine making this rare convertible a well kept secret and a pretty hot item.
Sold new by South Shore Pontiac on Merrick Road in Valley Stream NY on December 5th, 1973, this rare classic has spent its entire life on Long Island NY and has clearly avoided the sometimes harsh weather that LI-NY can dish out. The original owner lived in Hewlett NY and had the car delivered with just 3 miles on the odometer. Garage kept its entire life, this rust free example looks absolutely fantastic! After a beautiful respray over a decade ago, this Grandville convertible still has a bright shine with no pitting or bubbling at all. It was refinished in its original color (code 11), Cameo White. The body is pin straight and all original body panels are still on the car as shown. All chrome is in excellent condition and also shows no signs or pitting or rust.
The interior looks to be completely original. The seating and door panels have no cracking or tares at all however, the dash pad has a few very visible cracks as shown. These cracks seem to be the only flaws on the car. The wood grain finishing in the interior looks almost new. The steering wheel is original with NO cracks at all. The convertible top appears to be new and works perfectly. It has the glass rear window that came from the factory, not a plastic replacement. The boot is original and in excellent condition with no tares. Like most of the older boots of this age, it is a bit tight to install and may take a few minute but it fits perfectly once its on.
Factory features and options include air conditioning, power windows that all work as they should, power top and more. The radio is an aftermarket Pioneer AM-FM 4 speaker stereo with Cassette player that was most likely installed just a short time after the purchase of the car in 1974. It still works today and sounds Great!! Everything works as it should inside and out including lights, gauges etc.. Aftermarket gauges were installed under the dash as shown and work perfectly. These are usually installed to enhance the "dummy lights" that replaced the gauges on the luxury cars of the time.
The optional 455ci, 215hp, 4bbl engine gets out of its own way very nicely and can keep up with todays traffic quite easily. She starts right up, drives straight, runs smooth and stops without a problem. Tires and brakes are 80% or better. Tires are large Radial whitewalls, P235/75/R15s with original Pontiac hubcaps. The carburetor is the original factory 4-barrel and has NO issues at all. There are no fluid leaks of any kind.
This is a beautiful rarely seen classic with no issues. It is ready to go from the minute you purchase it. Short or long drives are not a problem. The car needs nothing! The Grandville convertible has yet to be recognized for its value and rarity. Be the owner when that time comes. That time is not far off!
The documentation includes the warranty info with the original owners name and address as well as many other original Pontiac dealership documents including the original mileage statement, emissions info, dealer oil change and tune-up specials, original owners manual, dealers welcome letter, maintenance folder and much more.
