Custom wheels, tires & suspensions
California Wheels was started by Tommy Phillips in 1998 when he was just 21yrs old. Tommy had a Honda Civic he built as a lowrider car while he was in high school. After a few years of hard work on his car he had it ready to bring to some car shows. He won first in his class in all of the major shows he entered and his car was gaining a little noteriety. But what really helped him get into the wheel business was entering his Civic in a national contest sponsored by BF Goodrich Tires. First place was $10,000 and second place was $5000. Tommy didn’t win first but he did win second, but more importantly his car caught the eye of the owner of Roadster wire wheels. Roadster wanted to sponsor Tommy’s car to use a brang new style of 100 spoke wire wheels called D’z. Tommy was impressed with the new D’z style wheels and noticed an opportunity to sell them at car shows and to his car club members. So, he used his earnings from the contest to buy wire wheels, and the rest is history.
