I have had this pickup in my head to build since 1973 when I saw one locally for sale. The design and style are rooted in the late 1960's early 70's HOT RODS of that era. I built this at home in my garage with the exception of the paint, interior and chrome. I did all the fabrication from the Chassis to the Metal Work. The body is a modified 1932 Ford Roadster Pickup from Brookville Roadsters. After many small detail changes to perfect Henry Ford's Design, I had award winning painter Pete Santini paint it 1965 Ford Poppy Red. I did the machine work and built the motor, a 1971 BOSS 351 Cleveland that features Edelbrock Aluminum Heads, TRW Forged Piston, Comp Cams Roller cam and Rockers, Eight Stack Injection on a Rare Hall Pantera Manifold and Custom Headers built by me at my work place, Doug's Headers. It is backed by a Ford Close Ratio Top Loader 4 Speed Trans and is backed by a Winters Quick Change Rear End. I designed the interior to be a cross of early Mustang and 1960's European Sporstcar styling and it was expertly carried out by Ron Mangus Hot Rod Interiors in custom Cinnamon Leather. The Wheels were custom made by E/T in their original 1960's Classic V Spoke style and are wrapped by Coker Vintage Tires.
This truck was chosen as a Contender for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster Award at the 2017 Grand National Roadster Show, an honor only offered to a handful of cars each year. Ultimately the award was won by a Coachbuilt 1937 Packard style roadster built by my freind Troy Ladd at his Hollywood Hot Rods shop, but it was quite an achievement to have been in contention and the car received high apprise from the judges and public along with the automotive press. It was also a feature vehicle at the 2016 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
