LEATHERBACK IN 24K GOLD This is a Ford Model A like you have never seen before!Beautifully restored 1928 Ford Model A 4-Door Leatherback painted Wimbledon White with Dark Brown Long Grain Vinyl top. Original owner was a NC country doctor....Dr. Andrews of Rocky Mount. Present owner is a local country music singer. Fully Restored by George Whitman with restoration completed in September of 2012. Car has 4 cyl Flat Head motor, 200.5 cu.in., 40 HP at 2200 RPM's, 3-speed sliding gear type transmission with original 6 volt system and original mechanical brakes. 21"x4.50 Wheels with Wide White Wall tires and Patriotic Eagles. Genuine 24k gold plated was used bumper to bumper, inside and out. Brown interior with brown cloth seats, brown carpet, brown headliner and white and wood grain dash. You have to see this car to really appreciate it! This car came as a result of creating an American made production car that would compete with the extraordinary automobiles at the Concourse D' Elegance at Pebble Beach, California. Well he surely did what he sat out to do an created and built one of the most beautiful Model A's ever seen. To bring this Model A to a standard that would equal the cars at the Concourse he made the decision to use 24k gold instead of chrome. Although extremely expensive the idea was the key to an unbelievable creation. Completing restoration in September 2012 the car immediately was entered into six car shows, winning them all. The most prestigious was First Place Peoples Choice at the Classics at the Capital in Raleigh, North Carolina 2013.
